This expandable baton measures only 5.5 inches when retracted and comes with a built-in keychain that makes it easy to carry on you at all times. When needed, this baton keychain can be easily extended to 12 inches long by just flicking your wrist. Despite its tiny size, this baton is made out of high-quality solid steel, allowing it to deliver a heavy blow onto its target. This baton weighs 9 oz. NOTE: When retracting the expandable steel baton, simply bang the tip onto a hard surface such as concrete (do not attempt on wood flooring as damage may result). Make sure that the baton is vertical and not at an angle when hitting it on the ground, or the baton could get damaged.

I bought this and ended up returning it. It took some practice to learn how to extend it. But it’s VERY difficult to collapse it. I manage to do so once but later I had to slam it on the ground several times to collapse it in order to put it back in the shipping box. It’s also not practical at all to put it on your keys. It’s got a good a oint of weight to it so if you don’t need to collapse it and want to maybe keep it in your car or large bag then go for it. Otherwise I wouldn’t recommend.
All Expandable Batons are hard to close, which is by design. This is because, if you need it to strike in self-defense, you do not want it to close easily. To close the baton, you need to strike the top downward on a hard surface that will not be damaged by the blow. This action releases the internal catch and will allow the baton to collapse. Reducing the weight of the baton any further to better fit keychains would lower its effectiveness as a striking weapon.
I purchased the 12 inch batons to carry in my pocket. In Texas this is now legal. The baton works perfectly. I also purchased these for my son and son-in-law. Very reasonable price and they arrived very quickly. Recommend these baton's. Check your state laws before purchase on the legality of these or before you travel.
The size of this enables it to reside in a pocket easily. Not cumbersome but conveniently present. Something is always preferred over nothing, and even though it's not been needed yet, its good to have around. My only issue is the noise factor with the keychain, it rattles fairly well with minimal movement. I do believe this is a good purchase.
Serves its purpose
For this price I couldn’t ask for more. Mine opens and closes just fine. There is no play when extended, which is a pleasant surprise for the price. I use a small piece of 2x4 to close the baton instead of hitting it on concrete to keep from dinging the business end. It takes practice to get the right strike to close the baton in one step consistently, as with all of these batons, but it works fine for me. I took off the key ring and leave it in the door compartment in my Jeep so it’s handy just in case. Hopefully I’ll never have to utilize it, but we’re going through some crazy times right now. Better to be prepared than sorry you weren’t! I’ve ordered an ASP with a clip on it to carry in my pocket. It’s considerably more expensive than this one, but this one will get the job done if unfortunately needed.
i really like the short compact design of this defense tool . handy to have it right there in your hands as you walk or are at you vehicle door if you are attacked . it is very solid built and i like that it will work perfect for hand or head strikes in any situation. thank you
