Stun Master And Guard Dog Stun Guns: A Comparison

We have done some other articles comparing pepper spray brands which our readers enjoyed and found very useful such as: Which Defensive Spray Brand Is Better Mace or Sabre? We thought we should compare some stun gun brands too.

In my article from last year about stun devices Comprehensive Guide To Stun Guns I explain what stun devices are, how they work and how to use them-all very helpful information.

First a little history about stun devices. As the story goes, back in the 1930’s a rancher developed a cattle prod to move his cattle around more easily. The device was big and bulky but he didn’t care because it got the job done. That idea has since morphed into today’s stun guns that are sleek and tiny for the most part. Many of them are disguised as other products such as flashlights, cell phones, perfume dispensers and even lipstick tubes.

I remember when we first got started in this business, a 1,000,000 volt stun gun was considered a big deal. Since they were battery-operated back then, they needed a lot of room to store the old-fashioned batteries. Can you say big and bulky?

Today’s stun guns are powered by rechargeable batteries that are much smaller than the old-fashioned kind and deliver a much bigger charge compared to the stun devices of years gone by. Now a 20,000,000 volt stunner is not uncommon.

Stun devices work by sending an electrical charge to the muscular system. This comes from the probes on the end of the device. The electrical charge causes the muscles to over work very rapidly depleting the body of all blood sugars needed for energy so the target has no strength left to do anything. The effects can last for as long as 10 minutes giving you time to get away and seek help.

Some people dislike the fact that you have to physically apply a stun device to an assailant for it to work properly. Another drawback is that some states have made them illegal.

Stun Master brand stun guns have been around for close to 20 years now and have developed a reputation of being high quality self-defense weapons-all with lifetime warranties. They range in price from $17.95 to $41.99 with a 20,000,000 volt model being their most powerful. Most of their devices are disguised as either cell phones, lipstick dispensers or other products that can take an assailant by surprise.

Guard Dog brand stun guns have not been around as long as some other brands and are a relatively new entry into the self-defense products field. They seem to specialize in flashlight stun guns with the most popular model being “the Diablo.” They all have lifetime warranties which is a testament to their quality. They range in price from $17.95 to $69.95 for a special ops stun flashlight. They are the nation’s most recognized tactical self-defense brand. As a bonus, Guard Dog offers a free 18% concentration pepper spray along with most of their stun devices.
