Cell Phone Stun Guns – Two New Self Defense Products

If you haven’t heard about self-defense products, those less than lethal products such as pepper sprays and tasers that are meant to disable an assailant for up to 10 or more minutes allowing you time to escape a potentially dangerous situation, then you are probably living under a rock.

Stun devices fall into that category of products for self-defense that are not lethal. Almost every police department in the country, over 17,000 at last count, has their officers carry tasers. And every police officer in the country wears a pepper spray on his utility belt. They are two of the most effective nonlethal self-defense products you can get. Pepper sprays on average are 90% effective and tasers are nearly 100% effective.

The stun gun is a hand-held device powered by a battery (some are rechargeable) that conducts electrical current on one end through two or more probes. The electrical current causes the body’s system to overwork which in turn depletes all the blood sugars needed for energy out of the system.

The origins of the stun gun go back to the late 1800’s when an inventor patented his “electric prod pole” as a way of herding cattle. He could only do this after batteries were invented. And like the “electric prod pole” the early stun guns were big, bulky items that were effective, but you needed a truck to carry them around because of their size. Technology has brought the size down to today’s near miniature ones by comparison.

Stun devices are the second most popular self-defense product in the country. They are also on average about 90% effective and are priced very reasonably so nearly anyone could afford one.

And now there’s one more problem for people who carry cell phones or iPhones, as if they didn’t have enough with assaults, robberies, etc., now they have to worry about their phones being stolen.

“FACT: In a recent 2012 study conducted by the FCC, more than 40% of robberies involve smart phones and cell phones. In some areas, that rate is higher than 50%.”
