Self Defense: Mini Stun Guns

When I first got started in this business about 10 years ago I remember very well that the stun gun with the most power was the biggest. The reason for that was simple. It got all its power from batteries. And the more batteries it had, the more power it had. Make sense? Of course it did back then. But so many stun guns today are rechargeable and don’t even use batteries that size has become a non issue. As a matter of fact some of the smallest stun guns are also some of the most powerful.

Even if a stun gun does use batteries as its power source, battery technology today has advanced to a point where a small battery can provide more power than several large ones from years ago. So size is still not an issue.

I remember one of the most popular stun guns sold when I first got started. It was called stun monster. That name was not because of the charge it gave but because it was 8 inches long. It came with a holster. Thank goodness, because it was the only way you could carry it.

Here are two popular stun devices that are both very powerful and less than 3 1/2 inches tall.

The first is 3.25 inches tall and 1.8 inches wide-much smaller than most mini stun guns. It is 4,000,000 volts and is completely rechargeable with a built-in slide out wall plug. It has the safety switch which must be in the on position and the stun activation button must be pressed before the unit can be used. It weighs only 3 ounces.

Stun devices disable an assailant for up to five or 10 minutes allowing the user time to get away. They have two or more probes on one end that conduct an electrical charge generated by batteries or stored energy. The electrical charge short-circuits the muscular system causing the body to use all blood sugars so there’s no energy left. It is similar to running a marathon so I am told.

Those are two powerful stun guns that show that size is not as important as it used to be.
