Security Cameras and Other Keys to Securing Your Home

With nearly a quarter of a million dollars invested in your home and your furnishings, fixtures and equipment to go in your home isn’t it worth a little bit of your time and effort and maybe even money to protect that investment? If you came up with the answer yes to that question, then I have some good news for you. In this article we will discuss some successful keys to securing your home against burglary and making it a safer place for you and your family.

One of the most successful programs in our nation’s history is the Neighborhood Watch program established by the National Sheriffs’ Association nearly 30 years ago. Its purpose is for neighbors to band together to protect each other against burglary and home invasion. At a recent neighborhood watch meeting, the moderator of the meeting said that his neighborhood is so watchful over what goes on, that even a strange car parked on the street gets noticed.

It is free for the asking. Just talk to your local police department and they will help you get one set up if you don’t have one already in your neighborhood. Something else that’s free that’s also done by the police department is a home security survey. The only conditions on it are that they have the people and time available to do the survey. This is a valuable service that the police department performs that hardly anybody knows about.

Two things that burglars pay attention to are dogs and security cameras. We don’t expect you to go out and buy a dog, but there is a security camera that allows you to talk to someone at your front door without even opening the door. The camera can be placed over 300 feet away from the receiver. It has a viewing angle of 66 degrees and can see in complete darkness. All video is time/date stamped for easy retrieval.

You can talk to whoever is at your front door from the comfort of your living room or your den. If your camera is set up to monitor your front door you can see who there too. This camera comes with a warning sticker that says “Warning CCTV In Operation.”

If you don’t want to spend the money for a real security camera, consider getting a fake security camera. They are so realistic looking that no one can really tell the difference between the fake ones and the real thing.
