What Is A Stun Gun?
Back in the 1930’s a farmer in Iowa came up with a way to move his cattle along more efficiently. The cattle prod.
That was the birth of the stun gun. Way back then it was big, ugly and produced 10,000 volts, but gosh how much electricity do you need to move a stupid cow?
Like many other things law enforcement agencies and the military saw uses for an electrified device to subdue assailants and control crowds.
Since then enterprising companies like Stun Master, Streetwise, Cheetah and many others have worked diligently to meet the needs of private citizens to provide a nonlethal alternative for their self defense.
As crime rates continue to increase all across the country people are looking for non-lethal alternatives to deadly force for self defense and stun guns and pepper sprays provide that. Stun guns are handheld, usually battery-powered devices that can deliver an electric shock to an assailant. That electric charge causes the muscles to over work in such a fashion that it depletes the body of all blood sugars so the assailant has no energy left. They also interrupt the tiny neurological stimuli that controls muscle movement. It causes a loss of balance and disorientation.
The process takes a few seconds to work so the stronger the STUN GUN’s electrical charge the less time it will take for it to work. It uses high-voltage and low amperage so no long-lasting damage is done but it put an assailant down for 5 to 10 minutes giving you time to get away to seek safety.
