Why Powerful Self Defense Items Are Better For Your Self Defense

Self defense items have been around literally for thousands of years. Even back in the Bible, self defense items were in use-sticks and stones. I guess they were the very first nonlethal self defense used by cavemen. Only when sophisticated minds figured out ways to kill people were self defense items less important

But as people became more sophisticated, yet again they discovered that they didn’t like the deadly force of a handgun so nonlethal self defense is back in vogue again. These self defense items provide an alternative to the deadly force of a handgun. The more powerful stun devices and pepper sprays are the better they are for your self defense. And here’s why!

First of all, pepper sprays discharge a solution that contains a resin of the most powerful pepper in the world-the cayenne pepper. The resin is called oleoresin capsicum (OC) and when it comes in contact with the skin-notably around the face-it causes extreme pain, shortness of breath, almost uncontrollable coughing and choking and tearing of the eyes so bad that they may actually close. The effects only last for 45 minutes which to the assailant who’s a victim it seems like forever.

Stun devices, in particular stun guns, are not so dramatic but are equally effective. Stun tools are hand held devices with two or more prongs on one end that conduct an electrical charge generated by a battery. When activated the stun device causes electrical arcs to fly back and forth between the prongs.

That arcing makes a rather intimidating sound. Sometimes these sights and sounds of the electrical arcs are enough to scare an assailant away. If not a 3 to 5 second application of the stun device to an assailant will cause the electrical charge to make the body work super-fast which depletes it of all blood sugars needed for energy.

Both Stun Guns and pepper sprays are on average 86% effective. The more powerful the concentration of OC in the pepper spray the more effective is the spray. The more powerful the voltage in a stun gun, the more effective the stun gun is. When you’re in an assault situation a few seconds can make a huge difference. Stun guns and pepper sprays both have a near immediate impact on an assailant. The more powerful they are the faster the protection begins.
