Home Security – The Best Ways To Secure Your Home

With so many home burglaries occurring in the country today, is it any wonder that the 78 million homeowners and countless apartment dwellers are concerned about their home’s security? There are so many different ways that you can secure your home. There are literally thousands of products on the market today-everything from window and door alarms, to highly advanced security systems.

In this article we will talk about some of the best ways to secure your home. Why are they the best? Because they are based on information gained from professional burglars who really know what they’re talking about.

Burglars have absolutely no trouble finding potential targets. One out of six homes is burglarized annually with close to $2,000 worth of goods taken in that 10 minute break in. That is the average amount of time a burglar spends inside the house and $2,000 is the average amount of stolen property.

Some burglars target homes in more affluent neighborhoods, but those targets are better protected and offer only marginally more booty in the offing. Middle-class neighborhoods are much more likely targets. There are more of them and they’re less likely to be protected as well.

Almost all burglars are inexperienced with only 5% showing any staying power or professionals. Because they are what we would call “rookies”, they have a higher threshold of fear of getting caught. A loud window or door alarm on each home opening will likely scare the burglar away when he enters the house.

But if possible, you want to prevent him from getting in. The three best ways to do that are with security cameras, a dog and the neighborhood watch program.

The neighborhood watch program heightens the possibility of getting caught-something burglars don’t want to do. The idea behind this program is for neighbors watching out for neighbors. ‘If you see something, say something’ is the basic tenet of the program. For 40 years it has been the most highly successful crime fighting tool ever devised. And it’s free. Just contact your local police department for details on how to get one going if you don’t have one already.

Burglars do not like dogs so put a sign in your front yard warning of a guard dog. And lastly they don’t like security cameras because according to police statistics, if you have video of bad guys in action, the chances of them getting caught if they do break in improve by over 50%.

If you don’t have or don’t want a dog get the Electronic Watchdog that makes the sound of a barking dog without the dog.

If you don’t have or can’t afford real security cameras get one of our Fake Security Cameras that are so realistic looking hardly anyone can tell them apart.
