How Byrna Pepper Launchers Work

Byrna air-powered launchers are easy to use — anyone can operate them. They shoot either a pepper powder-filled or hard kinetic projectile. The powder-filled round bursts upon impact and releases a cloud of irritating powder, incapacitating an attacker. The hard kinetic balls are hard enough to break glass and can deter an attacker — and are legal in states where pepper products are restricted like California and New York.

The cloud of pepper irritant created by the impact of one of these projectiles quickly disperses into the air. Exposure causes an immediate and strong reaction in the eyes, nose, throat, and chest, debilitating the attacker and giving you time to move away and get help.
