Top Three Consumer Favorite ASP Batons

According to the highly respected online encyclopedia “Armament Systems and Procedures, Inc. (ASP, Inc.), is a defensive compliance weapons manufacturer providing equipment to law enforcement and private security companies. ASP is perhaps best known for its’ telescoping batons.” They get high ratings from their users for portability, convenience, effectiveness, usability and psychological impact.

They have become so well known in the industry worldwide that their expandable batons have become known as “asps” as a generic trademark-perhaps the ultimate compliment. It should be noted that they set the standard which other companies try to follow.

They’ve been around since the early 1990’s. Their batons come in 3 sizes: 16″, 21″ and 26″. Most batons that are expanding use a button to automatically extend them to the full-length but ASP products use a “friction lock” design where the batons are opened by swinging the handle forcibly. They are closed like all other batons by driving the tip into a hard surface except wood flooring. “Make sure that the baton is vertical and not at an angle when hitting it on the ground, or the baton could get damaged.” Batons are legal everywhere except in California where they are prohibited.

In this article we will take a look at the top three ASP batons.

The first one is unusual and may be the only one of its kind because it is a Clip-On Baton that extends from 6.5 inches to 16 inches with the flick of a wrist. It is also available in a smaller version that only goes to 12 inches. Like most ASP batons it uses premium 4140 carbon steel for the striking surface. The clip-on style makes it the perfect self-defense weapon for civilians and plainclothes law enforcement agents. It uses an exclusive friction lock system that locks the baton firmly into place. ASP batons all have lifetime manufacturers’ warranty.

Then there is this 21″ Expanding Baton that goes from 7.75 to 21″ at the flick of a wrist. It uses a “Friction Loc” system which locks the baton firmly into place. It weighs only 1.2 pounds.

The third most popular ASP baton is this new size 24 Inch Expandable baton with push button retraction that uses a “Disc Loc” system which locks the baton firmly into place. It also uses a Cerakote finish that provides a superior look and feel and a comfortable foam vinyl rubberized gun grip feel that gives it a clean, smooth appearance.
