Streetwise brand, a major manufacturer of defensive sprays and other self-defense products, has introduced a new measurement tool that is based on the heat of the pepper once it is sprayed out of the container. The reason this is important is because once the spray comes out of its canister it becomes diluted with air and the propellant used to force it out of the container.
This new measurement tool is called a Certified Heat Rating or CHR. The results come from an independent laboratory so are unbiased. By comparison, most brands tested have an average heat rating of 123,000 SHUs, but the new Streetwise Pepper Spray models have a CHR of 230,000 SHU’s or close to 87% hotter than the competition.
Why is this important? When your life is on the line you want to have a product that is the most effective for the money. So when you’re in the market for an OC spray do your homework, and look for comparisons based on the Certified Heat Ranking instead of just the SHU. The new defensive sprays from Streetwise are the equivalent of 5 million SHU’s making them among of the hottest in the world.
