How Are Tasers Different From Stun Guns

In the world of self-defense items, nonlethal self-defense items have become extremely popular in the last decade or so especially for female self-defense.

Pepper sprays are by far the most popular nonlethal self-defense item there is. It is way ahead of number two, which is the stun gun. Part of the reason for that is because it’s a lot cheaper and smaller which makes it much more convenient for female self-defense.

All nonlethal self-defense items are designed to immobilize an assailant for a period of time to allow you to escape and get assistance. They all do that in different ways. But the main thing is they work and there’s no long-lasting damage. Some cities and states have outlawed stun guns but pepper sprays are legal in every state. Some states and cities place restrictions on the amount of the main ingredient oleoresin capsicum or OC that can be used.

The second most popular nonlethal self-defense item is the stun gun. They are hand-held devices that have two prongs on one end that conduct an electrical charge that comes from a battery but some are rechargeable. When the gun is activated a crackling sound starts and blue sparks fly that let’s you know the device is working.

Once a stun device is applied to an assailant it causes the body to work super fast depleting it of all blood sugars that are needed for energy. It also interrupts the stimulus that controls muscle movement, resulting in disorientation and loss of balance. The stun gun uses high-voltage and low amperage. There is no long-lasting damage from a stun gun which can disable an assailant for 5 to 10 minutes.

Many people confuse tasers with a regular stun tool. A taser is a form of a stun device but it operates very differently.

Tasers use low-voltage and high amperage electricity that is sent over electrified wires with barbs on the end. When the barbs hit the target, the shock of electro-muscular disruption provides for a nearly 100% effective self-defense product with more stopping power than a 9 mm handgun.

The Taser C2 is very popular with women for female self-defense.

For civilians the wires are 15 feet long. They are longer for law enforcement models. The shock overrides the central nervous system and the barbs can penetrate up to two cumulative inches of clothing. The cartridges are replaceable and don’t take long to replace. The end of the taser can be used as a regular stun device in an emergency situation.

When it comes to female self-defense, stun guns and tasers are some of the best non lethal self-defense items you can get.
