With an included connector, these two batons can become one. Once connected, the individual batons change from being able to telescope from 10 inches to 26 inches individually, to opening from 19.5 inches to a whopping 51 inches. That is over 4 feet long. With this added length and its solid steel construction, this powerful bo staff delivers a damaging blow to any attacker. The detachable ends should have holes drilled through and cables put through so you can detach them and let them hang. This isn't something you can convert from batons to staff in a quick moment.

Most of the time it is impossible to collapse it, no matter how hard we try! Very frustrating! I thought that it'd get easier the more it's used, but no...
The Home Security Superstore1 year agoWe reached out to Mr. Kimberly regarding the issues she was having with the bo staff and provided her a free return label. When we received the staff back we did some testing and found that she was correct, it was not closing properly. After doing a bit more testing we found that the baton had bent, likely from when it came in contact with a hard material. The connector holding the 2 parts together is the weak point. I found a piece of aluminum pipe about 1/32” wider in diameter than the grips. I removed the rubber and epoxied it all together to make a solid collapsible staff and wrapped the handle area with leather. It is 500% stronger at least and has no wobble when extended. I knew I would have to mod it when I bought it so 5 stars at least.

Item arrived with no damage but it did bust through the product box (not shipping box). It appeared opened so I emailed the seller, who told me that the above is what most likely happened. This expandable bo is well balanced as I'm able to fairly easily spin around my wrist, however, no matter how I attempt to double expand at once both sides, I'm only able to do one at a time. I'm sure this is more of a trial and error and practice thing, so no dings on this review for that. My ceilings are low so it's hard to practice indoors, and it's too hot and buggy outside so I may just purchase a padded short staff in the interim.

It was good until I hit ground to retract extensions. The whole thing is solid steel except the cheap aluminum cuplink that connected the two. It stripped and isn't round anymore
