The 12" collapses after just a few hits. Though it seems solid, it is useless if it collapses.
The expandable baton is extremely tough to open and even worst to close. This would be more of a liability to me if needed to use in case of an emergency. I would not recommend this product.
It's pretty solid and heavy, I have to admit. Small enough to fit in your pocket or purse. It's easy enough to pop it open, but it has a hard time staying open. The middle section keeps sliding down so I have to pop it back open again. And it's pretty tricky retracting it. But it's good enough to keep with me when I'm traveling or walking my dog.
I love this little thing. It's easy to use and is the perfect size. It's like I'm carrying a brother with me all the time - and he fits in my purse! Thanks!
