You May Be At Risk Because You’re In A Parking Lot
In a story that we did recently for my blog on Where Assaults Happen Most we listed the “most common places for assaults statistically which included: the home with domestic violence; parking lots; and college campuses.”
In another story ‘Parking Lots Can Be Dangerous Places For Assaults’ we offered several “parking lot safety tips.” Check ’em out!
In today’s story we will give you three more examples of assaults that occurred in parking lots which can be dangerous places.
In Rural Hall, North Carolina a man is facing a variety of charges after an altercation in a parking lot at the local McDonald’s. Police learned that the assailant attacked a 28-year-old male who was found unconscious on the ground with a head injury. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital. Upon further investigation police learned that the suspect, a 32-year-old male, fled the scene on a motorcycle parked across the street. The suspect has been arrested and charged with felony assault, inflicting serious bodily injury and other charges. The assault took place around 11 PM.
In our second example from Manchester, New Hampshire a man has been accused of physically and sexually assaulting a woman in a local church parking lot. Police arrested a 52-year-old man when they spotted him peeking out from behind St. Andrews Episcopal Church. The officer found the assailant on the ground next to a 53-year-old woman. When the officer investigated, he found a woman lying on her back in the grass with her face, hands and knees bloodied. The man was rolling off of her when the officer saw them. This all happened at 3:15 in the morning.
In our last example a man assaulted a woman when she confronted him moments before he stole her vehicle. The woman told police that she pulled into the parking lot around 4 PM and got out leaving her car keys in the center console with the windows down. A 44-year-old man walked up to the passenger side of the vehicle and looked inside then went to the driver’s side. An argument ensued with the man getting into the car, driving off while holding onto the woman and dragging her about 30 feet before she was able to break free. Employees of a local business saw the whole event and detained the perpetrator for police.
In another article that we did about Avoiding A Parking Lot Assault. we said the biggest thing you can do is to pay attention to your surroundings and not be distracted by anything. In other words, focus; be on the alert and be ready.
We also suggested that you carry a self-defense product-preferably one that’s on a keychain like any one of our 104 Keychain Defensive Sprays. Pepper sprays that are on a keychain are much more likely to be with you when you need them-which can be at any time!
