You Don’t Have To Be Smart To Be A Burglar

Everybody loves the stories that we bring to them in our series about the dumbest criminals. This is the 8th installment about them. And for those who are big fans let me assure you that there is no shortage of them as you will soon see in today’s version of criminals whose elevator doesn’t go to the top floor.

In today’s article we will share with you three stories about criminals who, well let’s put it this way, they are not the brightest bulb in the chandelier.

In Lake Worth, Florida the family told police that they came home to chicken bones and empty beer bottles on their kitchen floor. But the most shocking thing was a stranger that passed out on their couch. The burglar ate chicken, drank beer and then fell asleep The homeowners called police and when they responded they found a 22-year-old still asleep on the couch. When they took him into custody they found numerous items of jewelry on the man that belonged to the family. The moral of this story is that if you’re going to burglarize a home, make sure you get a good night’s sleep before you do it, so you’re not tempted to fall asleep.

This story comes to us from North Bergen, New Jersey where a homeless man was in the process of stealing three surveillance cameras outside Hudson County’s high-tech high school. He was not wearing any facial covering or mask at the time of the crime. What the burglar didn’t know was that one of the cameras was taking a live feed so there was a stolen camera selfie with the burglar’s image clear as day. He was captured on surveillance equipment several days later stealing $1,000’s worth of merchandise from an auto service parts store. It took police several weeks to capture him since he was homeless, but once captured, he readily admitted to the crimes. For crying out loud burglars if you’re going to steal cameras, make sure they’re not turned on and transmitting live feeds.

Out in Los Angeles recently a burglar found himself on the wrong end of a selfie on stolen Iphone. The owner of the phone was able to gain remote access and turn his iPhone into a streaming surveillance camera which then got a picture of the burglar.

As we have noted before, burglars are not that smart. But when it comes to high tech objects like an iPhone, they should at least have an idea what it’s capable of-like taking your picture and sending it somewhere!

This WiFi Spy Camera as seen here is one of our newest hidden cameras. Internet wireless routers are so common nowadays it seemed only natural for a hidden spy camera. The cool thing about this spy camera is that the router is a fully functioning one. The camera can record up to 300 feet away and has a viewing angle of 75 degrees. Every recording is time and date stamped to ease retrieval. Because this has Wi-Fi capability it is easy to use with any Mac, iPhone, android smart phone or tablet. Four recording modes are available: motion detection, continuous, schedule or power up-your choice!

Share with us any stories that you have about criminal antics that aren’t too smart.
