Are Stun Guns and Pepper Sprays Legal?
One of the most frequently asked questions we get-are stun guns and pepper sprays legal? Bear in mind the environment in which we live is constantly changing and laws change as well. Pepper sprays are legal in every state but some states have restrictions on the amount of oleoresin capsicum, which is the main ingredient in all pepper sprays. Michigan for example, will allow no more than a 2% concentration. So Mace brand has introduced special products for Michigan to meet the legal requirements.
STUN GUNS are not legal in several states like Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, DC and cities like Annapolis, Baltimore, Chicago, and Philadelphia. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence but aren’t these cities and states the ones with some of the highest crime rates in the country? hmmm!!
One thing recently caught my eye was in Michigan where stun guns are illegal and only a 2% concentration of pepper spray can be used. It’s all right to have a conceal carry permit for a firearm. The State Legislature is working on correcting that situation in Michigan.
As crime rates continue to increase all across the country people are looking for non-lethal alternatives to deadly force for self defense and stun guns and pepper sprays provide that.
